RIVER TAW & FLOODING
New Ark was affected by the exceptional floods of 2012. That particular year saw significant and unusual levels of rainfall throughout the year. During this time large parts of the country were also impacted.
Since this event in 2012, there hasn’t been any flood risk and the property has benefitted from a substantial flood prevention scheme. This is designed to both minimize the risk of water even entering the property, together with reducing the impact, if it ever did. The measures include: state of the art barrier systems on all doorways at ground level, non return valves where appropriate, raising of the electric sockets and a sump with pump installed. The flooring is fully tiled throughout the ground floor over a concrete screed and the walls are constructed of solid stone and are rendered.
The property also benefits from the ‘Flood Re’ Scheme which was introduced to provide affordable insurance to cover any impact of flooding without the hefty excess. The property is currently insured with AXA.
